Vitalscan has been featured in the Hobbs Independent, in an article about how private diagnostic imaging gives patients faster and more flexible access to MRI scans, ultrasound and blood tests. You can read the full article on the Hobbs Independent website.

What the Article Covers

The piece looks at the services available at our CQC-regulated centre at 100 Avebury Boulevard, Milton Keynes, and at what patients can expect when they come to us. It highlights:

  • No GP referral for many MRI scans: eligible self-pay patients can book MRI scans directly, with clinical and safety information reviewed before every scan
  • A wide-bore MRI scanner: our Philips 1.5T BlueSeal scanner has a 70cm opening, adjustable lighting and, where clinically appropriate, the option to watch or listen to something during your scan
  • Consultant-led ultrasound: ultrasound examinations are carried out by consultant doctors in private rooms
  • Consultant radiologist reporting: every MRI scan comes with a written report and access to your images, which you can share with your GP or specialist
  • Blood tests: our blood tests cover heart health markers, hormone levels and anaemia status

Why Faster Access to Diagnostics Matters

Waiting for a scan can be one of the hardest parts of an unresolved health concern. At the end of July 2026, 443,200 patients in England had been waiting six weeks or more for one of 15 key diagnostic tests, which is 23.1% of everyone on the waiting list. The NHS standard is that fewer than 1% of patients should wait that long, and NHS England’s latest figures show that none of the 15 tests met it.

Private diagnostics give people more choice over when and where they are seen. Our service is designed to work alongside NHS care and the advice of your own healthcare professional, rather than replace it.

A Word from Dr Tamer El-Holiby

Speaking in the article, Dr Tamer El-Holiby, Director of Vitalscan and Consultant Gastrointestinal Radiologist, said:

“People don’t come to us because they simply want a scan. They come because something about their health is uncertain and they want clarity. Technology is incredibly important, but so is how someone feels throughout that process.”
