Q: Is a full body MRI scan right for you?

A full body MRI scan may be especially suitable if you: Have a family history of cancer, cardiovascular or neurological disease Are health conscious and wish to proactively monitor your internal health Are experiencing symptoms across multiple body systems that require detailed assessment Want a comprehensive check rather than focusing on a single problem area However, as with all diagnostic procedures, it’s important to discuss your personal risk, health history and goals with our team. A full body MRI scan should complement (not replace) standard screening tests and discussions with your GP or specialist.

Q: How long does a full body MRI take?

In most cases, the session lasts approximately 60 to 90 minutes , depending on how many body areas are included, whether contrast is required and your individual health history. Q: What can I expect on a Full body MRI?

When you book a scan with us you will use a modern, wide bore full body MRI scanner designed for comfort and clarity. You’ll lie on a table that moves into the machine, and the scanner will capture images of your organs, tissues, blood vessels and bones. You may wear headphones or ear plugs during the scan, given the noise of the MRI machine. Before you start we’ll ensure you understand the process, minimise discomfort and maximise image quality.

Q: Can I have a Spine MRI if I have metal in my body?

Whether you can have a Spine MRI depends on the type of metal and where it is located. Many modern surgical implants are MRI-compatible, but some older devices or lodged metal fragments may make MRI unsafe. Our clinical team will review your medical history to determine suitability.

Q: What conditions can a Spine MRI detect?

A Spine MRI can detect a wide range of conditions including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, nerve compression, degenerative disc disease, arthritis of the spine, spinal cord abnormalities, tumours, infections, inflammation and fractures that are not visible on X-rays. It can also assess complications after spinal surgery.

Q: Can I have a Gynaecological MRI if I am on my period?

Yes, you can usually have the scan while on your period. However, if you feel uncomfortable or would prefer to rearrange, you can do so. For some conditions, such as endometriosis, scanning at a certain point in the menstrual cycle may be recommended.

Q: Do I need to prepare for the scan?

Some preparation may be required. You may be asked to avoid eating for a few hours beforehand or to attend with a moderately full bladder to improve image quality. Any preparation instructions will be provided clearly before your appointment.

Q: Can I have an MRI if I have a pacemaker or metal implants?

It depends on the type of device or implant. Many modern pacemakers and implants are MRI-compatible, but some older devices are not. Our clinical team will review your medical history to determine whether an MRI is safe for you.
